Animators Get Going with their First Character Animation
For the last few weeks the Elements animators have been building up their skills and understanding of animation practicing basic exercises to help refine their understanding of the process of stop motion.
In the last session we developed this into a simple character with the “story” of them jumping off a high platform onto a trampoline. This gives students the chance to practice some of the key principles of animation such as stretch and squash, arcs of motion, easing and anticipation. Here are some of the examples of what they created. Enjoy!!
2017 Elements Animators Get to Work with Ink and Brush
After significant disruption to the start of the Elements year thanks to 2 typhoons the Elements animators finally got a chance to work on their first creative project using Ink and Brush as the medium. This abstract exercise is there to practice easing – the slow in and slow out principle of animation that is a starting point for students to consider the nature of movement. This is very much a piece of free expression and at the end of the session all the students’ work is put together into a show reel which is below. Watch out for some beautiful flow at 14- 22 seconds and again at 30 seconds in. Enjoy!!
Mobile App Designers Present their Ideas
The app design students have been looking at design for 2-4 year olds as an exercise in considering user interface and user experience design. They have tried to come up with an app idea in the realm of creativity, free play or education. They worked on a presentation board and oral presentation of their work. We then voted on the best idea (hence the post it’s!!). Here are the pictures.
Great commitment to design!!
Want to share this photo of John who came into the lesson today with a box full of components he has brought in for his lamp. This sort of commitment to the design process and his outcome is the sort of thing that makes projects happen. It is such a great thing to see and I hope he inspires others by this to engage as fully with their projects. Well done John!!
