Week 1 Lord’s Kitchen (Omelette Challenge) – Chefs of the Week Karen, Renee, Jennifer and Yanisha
Week 1 of Lord’s Kitchen is the Omelette Challenge, with students pretending they were at job interview to be a commis chef and this is a test of the their working practices and organisation, whilst demonstrating the hygiene and safety rules of the kitchen. Chefs of the Week were Karen, Renee, Jennifer and Yanisha, who made the best presented omelette and worked the most efficiently.
Wraps by Lord’s Kitchen
Well done to all the students in the Lord’s kitchen elements who finished of the course in style, by opening up their Pop up[ restaurant yesterday, Wraps by Lord’s Kitchen.
This gave students an insight into all the considerations needed to think about when opening a food business. After a big brainstorm, they decided to go with Mexican wraps as their theme and split into three teams to make, Chicken Fajita.s Beef Burritos and Vegetarian Tacos. They sold around 75 serving of the food in the 20 minute window that the restauarant was open and they left many customer asking when they were going to do it again.

Homemade pasta week – Chefs of the week Jasmine, Zekie, Shyan
Homemade pasta week is always one of the favorites in Lord’s kitchen, with a great balance of skill, creativity and collaboration. students had to decide whether to p\make, spaghetti, tagliatelle or ravioli and which of the 5 mother sauces they were going to make to accompany the pasta. Rolling the pasta was a bit of work out and the sauces gave students the potential to elvate their dish to another level. jasmine was awarded chef of the week for working independently and making the best quality pasta, presented to the highest standard and Zekie and Shyan got the accolade for great teamwork and being the only studenst try the more challenging ravioli
Eggs benedict – Chefs of the week Edison, Yi Shyan and Chloe
Lord’s Kitchen this week, was an introduction to the 5 Mother Sauces and a cook off to see who could make the best Hollandaise sauce and poached eggs. The chefs of the week Edison, Yi Shyan and Chloe, who showed the most professional working practices and creative presentation. It was the first time ever that the whole class managed to make the sauce with noone scrambling the eggs .
Lord’s Kitchen, week 4 – Meat. (Chef’s of the Week: Chloe, Melody, Saara, Yi Shyan)
Meat week in Lord’s Kitchen is always challenging, as studenst are reuired ti joint a chicken into the wings, thighs, drumsticks, thighs and caucus. The students then worked in groups to make a different chicken dish, including, Creamy mustard casserole, breaded chicken wing, sweet chili drumsticks, chicken kebabs and chicken stock
Chloe, Melody, Saara, Yi Shyan were awarded chef’s of the week, for their teamwork and organisation wgen making, breading and deep frying the chicken wings
Lord’s Kitchen (Wk 1) – Omelette Challenge (Chef of the Week – Jasmine)
In the first week of the new Lord’s Kitchen elements course, student were introduced to the course and then had to organsie themselves to make an omelette, to show off their mise-en-place and heat control. Well done to Jasmine (11F), who showed the best working practices to produce a perfect omelette
Lord’s Kitchen Burger Sale – Chefs of the Week (Ruaidhri and James)
Well done to Ruaidhri and James from the Lord’s Kitchen Elements class who planned and organuised their own pop up burger sale today. The had previously costed the ingredients, worked out their break even point and done the marketing to promote the sale. They sold all 40 burgers for $30 each, within 10mins and easily could have sold more. Very good considering they needed to sell 30 to break even. Looking forward to their next pop up venture on Monday 11th June to kick off Healthy Eating Week
Homemade Pasta – Chefs of the week (Erika and Christy)
Homemade3 pasta week is one of the most challanging and tiring lessons in the Lord’s kitchen Elements. Students could make any sauce to accompaqny their pasta and then are givingf a real work out doinbg the rolling with the pasta machine and some students even made filled raviolis. However Erika dn Christy were awarded Chef of the week for their perfectly presented spinach and mushroom tagliatelle, as they worked the most effectively as team to make it.
Eggs Benedict Challenge – Chefs of the Week (Jessica and Natalie)
Well doen to Jessic and Natalie, who were awarded Chef’s of the Week in Lord’s Kitchen Elements for their restaurant standard Eggs Benedict, they collaborated well and paid particular attention to detail to make this dish and show off their Hollandaise sauce making and egg poaching skills. Already looking forwad to next weeks homemade pasta and sauce dishes.
