First day for elements animators

First animation lesson and we got to grips with some of the fundamental questions around what we doing in his course. What do we expect? Why did we choose it? What is frame rate and the persistence of vision  and what is there relevance to animation?  Is animation just making things look like they are moving?  We’ve then go on to make our zoetropes and our first very simple animations. The point of this is to try to understand some of the complexities and limitations of frame by frame animation as well as the workload implications of our story decisions.

Week 1 – Skill development (omelette and Fruit/Veg carving)

In week 1 of Lord’s Kitchen students were given two challenges to test their skills. Firstly they were asked to make the perfect omelette after watching a demonstration and secondly was to produce a piece of food art by carving a fruits or vegetables. Standards were particularly high for the first  lesson, with no omelette disasters and a lot of very good apple swans and turtles. However  the first chefs of the week awards go to Tianan Neville for the best omelette and Sarah Khursigara for her intricate fruit carving

Lords Kitcehn – Y13 Graduation Canapes

Well done to this class who were amazing on 1st June. They all designed and made 100 capes each, making sure we had 200 to serve the 500 guests at the Y13 graduation.

The feedback from the guest was amazing. Possibly the best range of canapes that has come from one of Mr Lord’s classes

Choux Pastry Week – Star baker Paige Willis

This week was probably the hardest yet, with the choux pastry challenge and the results varied in success. Some students got a better a puff into their pastries than others, but there were some amazing profiteroles and eclairs made.

Star baker goes to Paige Willis though as her profiteroles were creative with raspberry ream and raspberry floured white chocolate coating, as well as being all perfectly uniform.
