Pasta week in Lord’s Kitchen
This week saw students being creative with pasta and used their prior knowledge from sauce week. For all students it was the first time they had made homemade pasta and the results for these novice chefs were remarkable, with a great range of dishes including presto tagliatelle, mushroom tortellini and spinach and ricotta ravioli . Very successful lesson with lots collaboration and confidence building
Mr R’s designer of the week
This week my designer of the week is Pria. I really liked the way she has taken on board the design strategies we have looked at and applied them to her design work for the MP3 speaker. Well done Pria!!
Animation workshop 2
This week there were two exercises the students were challenged with – an abstract wire exercise concentrating on the arc of movement and a more concrete piece where students were asked to give a scene between rigid objects emotional meaning. The results aree soon to be posted. Enjoy the photos for now.
Yr 7 Pot stands – Woodworking skills
The year 7 Pot stand project is nearly completed. Students learned new practical skills using a variety of traditional hand tools and some workshop machinery. For the majority, this was the first time they had done any woodworking. Particular highlights were using the sanding machine and making cross-halving joints with a chisel and mallet!
Star Baker – Amy Lee
Well done to Amy (11D), who was awarded star baker in Sweet Indulgence for her lovely 3 milk cake that she made professionally and decorated with precision.
The whole class did really well and there were many delicious cakes presented at the end
Chef’s of the week – Nicole So and Natalie Choy
Well done Natalie and Nicole who were awarded Chefs of the week this week in Lords Kitchen sauce making lesson. They collaborated really well to make the perfect Eggs Benedict and then made a great Bechamel sauce for the creative broccoli and macaroni bake.
