Thank you to everyone at Chartwell’s for making this happen
Chef of the Week – Claudia Lau
The Chef of the week this week has come from Lord’s Kitchen (Elements) class during the homemade pasta. there was some excellent pasta made by nearly all the students but Claudia excelled and challenged herself with her dish. She produced Ravioli filled with smoked salmon and an egg yolk in a sage beurre noisette and asparagus, which when cut into the egg enriched the sauce.
Truly a very a special dish from an extremely talented and creative student

FLG – Zen Organic farm Visit
This week, Food Lovers Guide (Elements) class took a trip to Zen organic farm, in new territories. Students learnt the value of organic farming as they tried their hands at tomato, mushroom and lettuce picking and got to see a pot belled pig and a goat. They also made their own lunch of pizzas and salads, using the freshly picked ingredients. As Betty Tsu, who was also on this trip rightly put it, it was “definitely worth it.”Maya Jordan said it was amazing and one of the best days of her life
Applied Learning Celebration Catering
At the applied learning celebration evening, the food department was asked to serve some nibbles. This seemed like the ideal opportunity to start planning for the introduction of BTEC Hospitality next year, by getting the students that have opted for this new subject together to do this . I was very impressed with both the creativity in designing the canapes and the collaboration and team work of the students and am very much looking forward to teaching this class next year.
