April 19, 2018 Chris LordIt was the year 8 Wilberforce tutor groups turn to take part in the Life Skills cereal bar/bite challenge this week, where students worked in small groups to design and make their own healthy cereal snack product. The winners were lex and Hei Ching, who made cereal bites which they named HEX Balls. Mr Wilkinson and MR Pawlyn were the judges and decided that the HEX ba;l;s had the perfect texture and were were deliciouis without being too sweet. they will now make this with all of the other tutor groups winning products on Wed 13th June, during Healthy Eating Week.
Choux pastry week – Star bakers Joanne and Priya
April 19, 2018 Chris LordChous pastry week in sweet indulgence always proves one of the biggest challenges for the students to master the process of making the tricky pastry adn then making sure their chosen products achieves the perfect puff. There was a lot of profiteroles and produced , with different fillings and garnishes, and this weeks star bakers were decided upon because of their approach to the task and because they deiced to work independently. Priya made a mini Croque-en-bouche which she garnished with white chocaolate butterflies that she had made at home and Joanne made mouthwatering eclairs which could have been sold a French patisserie
Puff pastry Week – Star Baker Riya Zaveri
March 29, 2018 Chris LordSweet Indulgence this week focused on every baker favourite standard component, Puff pastry. this cgave students the opportunity tpo be creative with croissants, apple roses and danish pastries and much more. Riya was awarded Star baker, for her professionally presented raspberry cream Millle Feuille, which woukld have been a great dessert a French restaurant
Chilled desserts Star Bakers – Ananth, Priya and Jasmine
February 14, 2018 Chris LordWell done to Ananth, Priya and Jasmine who won the 1st Star Baker awrd of the new Sweet Indulgence Elements class. They opted to make mint and chilli chocolate mousse with some amazing garnishes. It was really hard to decide this week though as there were some fabulous panna cottas, creme brulees, summer pudding and cheese cakes.
Sweet Indulgence magazine winners – Katarina, Natalie and Catherine
January 31, 2018 Chris LordWell done to Katarina, Natalie and Catherine who produced the most professional and magazine to collate all of their groups cakes, pastrieds and desserts from the Sweet Indulgence Elements course. It was obvious that they had combined all their skills and used prior learning form past elements courses, such as Photography and Writers Block. We will now be looking into get their groups magazine published so it can sold at school fare and events.
