Yr 8 Photoshop Skills Rock Star Project

This is an exemplar piece of work by Jamie Lam in 8D. She has developed a love for design and photoshop. She has been spending hours researching the tool and has documented her process over and beyond. Mr R’s Designer of the Week

It has been a while since I have identified someone who I wanted to celebrate as my designer of the week so it good to have the opportunity now. This week I would like to celebrate Wenxi. We have been working on the creative process in the design of our clocks. Wenxi has come up with a really nice idea and modelled it extremely well in preparation for he lesson where we start to take this into Adobe Illistrator for development.   I look forward to seeing the result.    

Designer of the Week

Riya can you tell me about your laptop sleeve?  My laptop sleeve is designed for teenagers who like band music, this is why I chose to put on logos of bands on the front part of the sleeve. I designed the front and back cover on photoshop which took a lot of editing, adding pictures and positioning them. After I finished designing the front and back cover, I transferred the document onto the computer in the textiles room, then printed it onto my fabric. I sewed everything together (I also added a zipper) and I was really impressed with the final outcome.

Ranen – featured student designer

I wanted to post this picture to celebrate Ranen’s work. We have been trying in year 8 to develop creative approaches to design and Ranen really responded with his clock numbers. I love the interlinked typography he has come up with. Additionally a happy accident with the laser cutter meant that he had to cut one part twice. He plans to use this unexpected extra piece to cheat a bit more 3 dimensionality to his outcome. Good stuff!

Some great work coming out from aika these past couple of weeks makes here my designer of the week. Not only is she a talented graphic artist, she responded well to guidance on how to maximise the potential of her design so that it performs well in the context and material. This shows a great willingness to be open about her thinking and is a quality needed for great design. Well done!
