Star Baker – Katherine Nye

Congratulations to Katherine who has been out sourcing her talents and as part on her BTEC extended project on cake making has paid to make this fabulous cake for a dog’s birthday. The cake had yo be low fat and low sugar, so it could be enjoyed by both humans and dogs, with caused a few problems, but after researching hard Katherine found great cake and icing recipes and pulled off a great design.  

Lord’s Kitchen – Star Bakers

In the Lord’s Kitchen Class this week, pupils were set the Puff Pastry Challenge to test their creativity and precision., when using standard component products. The star baker award went to Cade Weathington for this creative starters and Darcey Jack for her professional approach to the task and the uniformity of her fruit puffs

Bakers of the Week – All the Y7/8 cooking club

This week the bakers of the week were the Y7/8 cooking club who made all the mince pies for the staff party. Thanks for your help, they look great  

Capturing your Sweet indulgence Lemon Meringue Pies

This week in sweet indulgence, students worked in pairs to make lemon meringue pies. Each pair had to work together to make the different components of the pie from the scratch. It was a big challenge for some of these students because they were doing this for the first time. However, this was a challenge they were all excited to take on.  It was pleasing to see some very impressive finished products at the end. Once again, students proved that they are good collaborators and they can work well in teams to produce work of a high standard.
