We believe

The purpose of design education at Island School is to empower students with the thinking skills to process and solve problems, both within the context of the experiences through which it is taught but also in the wider context of their lives.  We believe that design education should be experiential and that at the heart of good design thinking lies the ability to identify and creatively describe problems with insight and empathy.  We want to create student designers who have the critical capacity to innovate optimal solutions and who can communicate the results of their research, analysis and creativity in a way that embodies meaning.
