Thanks to everyone at Complete Deelite who put on a fantastic doughnut decorating session for the students as part of the Mind, Body and Soul quest week trip. It was a very mindful and enjoyable activity

Feeding the homeless at IMPACTHK

as part of the Mind, Body and Soul Quest Week, Ms Jolly and Mr Lord made soup and Foccacia with the students and then took it to feed the homeless at IMPACTHK in Mong Kok. the student commented on what a rewarding activity it was

 

Y12 BTEC Hospitality @ POP Vegan

As part of Gealthy Eating week, the Y12 BTEC Hospitality students visited POP Vegan on Elgin St, for a 5 course meal of different European dishes, so they could n start their next research project on European Foods. The food was interesting and a great take on some classic dishes from around Europe, beautifully presented and with some interesting innovative flavours and ingredients. It made a lovely change to eat solely plant based food and it was great  to see how this style of food has been made so contemporary. thanks to everyone at POP vegan for putting a special menu and for the great service.

IB food students visit bread elemnets Bakery

Many thanks to Gregoire at Bread Elements for the amazing tour of the factory and the amazing pastries. The IB food Science students loved learning about the science of bread and croissant making and how this is doen on a large scale using commercial machinery

BTEC Lunch at the Hyatt Sha Tin

many thanks to Wilson Lee IS parent and Manager of the Hyatt Sha Tin, for arranging a special lunch for the Y12 BTEC hospitality students. The students are researching fine dining menus in preparation for a gala dinner for the NMKM trust that they will planning and running in April and the team at Hyatt designed a special lunch menu for the students to have and then they are writing a review of the meal to help them prepare for their event and start designing their own menus.

 

BTEC work experience catering at at the Alliance event

Well done to Ernest, Kirsten, Kisha and Hitesh, who helped the chef and serving satff at Club Lusatino, in Central yesterday, at the Islnad School Alliance event last night. They really impressed the chefs with their professionalism.

Sweet Indulgence v Complete Deelitre – Star bakers (Sarrah, Nicole Yash, Emisa, Emilie)

Today Sweet Indulgence Elemenst5 visited Complete Deelite in Central, to partake in the Mochi and Cupcake decorating workshop. This was as fun and challneging as ever an dthe workshop leaders decided that Sarrah, Nicole Yash, Emisa, and Emilie, showed the greatest range of skills, were the most creative and neatest and therefore are this weeks Star Bakers

IB students inter vied from the SCMP about food issues in HK

Afternoon Delight

Yesterday the Y13 BTEC students were rewarded for their excellent dessert buffet, that they produced at the staff CPD day. They were taken to Hyatt in Sha Tin, where they had the afternoon tea set, so they could research and analysis thew quality of the food on offer and get ideas for their next event, which will be an afternoon tea for the local community, in December.

BTEc hospitlaity visits Bread/Pastry Elements

Today the Y12 BTEC Hospitality students were lucky to go on a visit to Bread and Pastry Elements factory in Chi Wan and meet the Chef owner, Gregorie. The company was set up 5 years ago and now supplies a vast number of Hong Kong’s  top hotels and restaurants with their pastry product. The amazingly through 10 tons of flour and 3 tons of butter every month to make their various products. Gregorie took us on a tour of the different parts of the bakery and got yo see burger buns being made for Beef and Liberty, pizza dough being made for pizza express and they even got to sample the croissants.
